Kasambya County Member of Parliament Daudi Kabanda has issued his first public statement following his removal as Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), expressing gratitude to the party leadership and extending support to his successor.

Kabanda’s remarks came shortly after Chief of Defence Forces and PLU Chairman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba announced leadership changes within the political outfit.

In the announcement, Muhoozi named Hon. Fadhil Twalla as the new Secretary General, noting that he would work closely with him to advance the party’s objectives.

He also thanked Kabanda for his service, describing his tenure as impactful and setting a high standard for the position.

In response, Kabanda adopted a conciliatory tone, acknowledging the opportunity he was given to serve in the role since the formation of PLU structures.

He described his appointment as the pioneer Secretary General as a significant honour and expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him by the party chairman.

“I take this opportunity to sincerely thank you, my Chairman, for the trust and confidence you placed in me,” Kabanda said, emphasizing his gratitude for the leadership role he held over the past three years.

The legislator also used his statement to congratulate the incoming Secretary General, signaling a smooth transition within the party ranks.

He wished Twalla success in executing his new responsibilities, referring to him as “Ndugu,” a term often used to denote camaraderie and solidarity.

Kabanda’s measured response reflects an attempt to project unity within PLU at a time when the party is undergoing internal restructuring.

His acknowledgment of both past leadership and incoming officials underscores a continuity narrative often emphasized during political transitions.

The changes announced by Muhoozi are part of a broader reorganization expected within PLU’s top leadership, with indications that further appointments to the Central Committee could follow in the coming months.
