Tingey County MP Twalla Fadil has officially taken over as the new Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) following his appointment by PLU Chairman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The leadership change marks a fresh phase in the organisation’s internal restructuring and coordination strategy.
In a statement announcing the appointment, Muhoozi confirmed Fadil’s elevation and expressed confidence in his leadership, while also acknowledging the outgoing office holder.

“The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadil Twalla. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives. I thank Hon. Kabanda for his 3 years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position,” Muhoozi stated.
The reshuffle is seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the organisational structure of the PLU, a political movement closely associated with the ruling establishment and its mobilization agenda.
In his acceptance remarks, Fadil expressed gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a significant responsibility entrusted to him by the party leadership.
“I am humbled by this great opportunity bestowed upon me by my Chairman to take up this new role as General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda,” he said.
He pledged to align his leadership with the expectations of the organisation and the directives of the chairman, emphasizing unity and institutional strengthening.
“I pledge to serve to the best of the organisation’s expectations and as directed by my chairman,” Fadil added.
The newly appointed Secretary General further outlined his priorities, focusing on cohesion and structural development within the organisation.
“I pledge to ensure unity, strengthen our organisation structures from top to bottom and ensure we have the strongest organisation,” he stated.
Fadil’s appointment comes at a time when PLU is seeking to consolidate its internal coordination and expand its grassroots presence.
