Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua on Tuesday energized supporters of President Yoweri Museveni during a campaign rally at Booma Grounds in Oyam, announcing a strategic plan aimed at boosting voter turnout in Northern Uganda ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Obua revealed that the three sub-regions of Northern Uganda—Lango, Acholi, and West Nile—have agreed to organize an inter-district competition to determine which district will record the highest voter support for President Museveni.

“The three sub-regions constituting the Northern Region, Lango, Acholi, and West Nile, have all agreed that in the 2026 General Elections, we are going to hold an inter-district competition to get the best district in voting for President Kaguta Museveni in the respective sub-regions,” Obua said.

The initiative is aimed at fostering unity and healthy competition among districts, while motivating communities to actively participate in the electoral process.

Obua emphasized that the competition is not only a demonstration of support for Museveni but also a way to engage local leaders and citizens in the democratic process.

“This approach encourages districts to mobilize their communities, ensuring that every eligible voter plays a part in shaping the country’s future,” he added.

The announcement comes as President Museveni ramps up his nationwide campaigns, with Northern Uganda emerging as a key focus area due to its strategic political importance.
