The government of Uganda has announced a rare and unconventional public communication event that will see President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni deliver a post-election thank-you message through an aerial drone display over the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

In a public notice issued on Friday, authorities confirmed that the visual message will take place on Monday, 11th May 2026 at exactly 8:00 p.m., urging residents across Greater Kampala to “keep their eyes on the skies” for what has been described as a “special and memorable national moment.”

According to the announcement, the President’s message following his reported election victory will not be delivered through traditional platforms such as televised broadcasts or public rallies.

Instead, it will be communicated through a coordinated drone show-style presentation designed to illuminate the night sky above the capital for approximately 14 minutes.

Officials said the display will combine visual technology and symbolic messaging to convey the President’s appreciation to Ugandans for their support in the recently concluded electoral process.

“Residents of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area are hereby informed that HE. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will deliver a special thank-you message following his election victory,” the notice read in part, emphasizing that the public is encouraged to participate by observing the skies during the scheduled time.

The government has not yet disclosed the technical details behind the drone choreography or the agencies involved in executing the aerial spectacle.

However, such displays have previously been used in other countries for national celebrations and major public announcements, often involving synchronized lighting patterns, text formations, and imagery.

The planned event is expected to attract significant public attention, particularly in Kampala, where residents are being urged to prepare for potential temporary restrictions in designated airspace during the performance window.

Security and aviation authorities are expected to provide further guidance ahead of the event to ensure safety and smooth coordination.

If successful, the drone show could mark one of the most technologically advanced political communications in Uganda’s recent history, blending leadership messaging with modern visual innovation over the city’s skyline.
