A fresh analysis by investigative journalist Natumanya, also known as Ninyez Tabz, has intensified scrutiny over the reported detention of lawyer and former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago following his controversial abduction on Monday.

In a series of statements shared online, Tabz claims that images of Lukwago circulating on social media—allegedly posted by Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba—point to a specific detention location within military intelligence premises.

“That photo of former Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been taken from the same place or room where Eddie Mutwe was photographed while naked days after his arrest,” Tabz stated. “From that, I can confirm that the former Lord Mayor is detained at DIS/CMI in Mbuya.”

The claim is based on a comparative analysis of previously published images involving Eddie Mutwe, a known associate of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi.

Tabz argues that visual similarities in the background, lighting, and setting strongly suggest the same holding facility.

The development adds a new layer to an already contentious case, where Lukwago was reportedly taken from his Kampala residence by armed operatives in an early morning raid.

His whereabouts have remained officially undisclosed, with no formal communication from security agencies by Monday evening.

In a separate observation, Tabz also pointed to physical changes in Lukwago’s appearance visible in the photos.

“A close analysis of these two frames of Lukwago shared by the CDF shows that the former Lord Mayor’s signature haircut has been dismantled,” he noted.

This detail has raised further questions among observers, with some interpreting it as a possible indicator of the conditions under which Lukwago is being held.

The images, widely circulated online, have sparked debate across Uganda’s political and legal circles, with critics questioning both the legality of Lukwago’s detention and the decision to publicly share such photographs.
