Former Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda has raised concern over the whereabouts of prominent lawyer Erias Lukwago, saying authorities have failed to disclose where he is being held hours after his arrest from his home in Kampala on Monday morning.

Speaking on Monday evening, Ssemujju said efforts by Lukwago’s family and legal team to trace his detention location had not yielded results, despite visits to multiple police stations and security offices in the capital.

“As of this evening, we don't know where Erias Lukwago is being kept after his kidnap from his home today by Muhoozi kainerugaba. Together with his wife and lawyer Medard Lubega and others, we went to Nateete police station to report a case of kidnap but they refused to register it.

"We were sent to Kibuli CID headquaters to see the Deputy CID Chelimo. He also sent us to Kampala Metropolitan Police CID who has also refused to register the case. We have decided to write a letter to Police, we hope they will receive it,” Ssemujju stated.

The update adds a new layer of uncertainty to the morning operation in which armed security personnel reportedly stormed Lukwago’s residence and took him away to an undisclosed location.

His wife, Nalongo Zawedde Lubwama Lukwago, earlier described the raid as abrupt, saying operatives forced entry into their home before taking the lawyer away.

By Monday evening, no formal statement had been issued by security agencies clarifying the reasons for his arrest or confirming where he was being held, intensifying concerns from legal and political circles.

Ssemujju’s remarks suggest that attempts to formally file a kidnapping complaint have been unsuccessful, with multiple police units allegedly declining to officially register the matter.

The situation has left Lukwago’s family and colleagues relying on informal communication channels as they seek clarity.
