The National Unity Platform (NUP) has marked a significant expansion of its operations with the official opening of its Western Region headquarters in Mbarara City.
The new office, strategically located next to Independence Park Grounds, was unveiled on Friday in a move hailed by party leaders as a milestone in strengthening the party’s presence across Uganda.
NUP Secretary General David Rubongoya announced the opening on X, describing the development as the result of careful planning and “discipline and sacrifice” by the party leadership.
According to Rubongoya, the property was acquired over a year ago, and construction proceeded quietly to avoid interference from the government, which the party has often accused of attempting to undermine its activities.
“The ground was purchased over a year ago, and construction started in earnest. We’re glad that information about this place was kept under wraps for over a year and so we were able to avoid the usual sabotage by the regime,” Rubongoya stated, expressing gratitude to party leader Bobi Wine and other colleagues who contributed to realizing the project.
The Western Region headquarters is expected to serve as a hub for NUP activities, outreach programs, and coordination of party operations in western Uganda.
Party officials say the facility will enhance engagement with supporters, improve communication, and strengthen the party’s organizational capacity ahead of future elections.
