Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on Monday visited supporters of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Bugiri, urging them to actively engage with the party’s manifesto and support President Yoweri Museveni in upcoming electoral activities.
During the visit, Among encouraged residents to understand the policies and pledges outlined by the ruling party, stressing the importance of grassroots mobilization.
“We visited enthusiastic supporters here in Bugiri to encourage them to understand the party manifesto and take the initiative in rallying votes for our leader, General Museveni,” she said.
Among also highlighted the government’s ongoing programs aimed at integrating rural communities into the formal economy.
She urged locals to take advantage of these interventions, which include financial literacy programs, agricultural support schemes, and initiatives promoting access to credit and savings facilities.
“The government has put in place various measures to ensure that our rural population can actively participate in the money economy,” Among noted.
Residents welcomed the visit, expressing optimism about the potential of these initiatives to improve livelihoods and create opportunities in Bugiri.
The visit comes amid increasing calls for political actors to educate citizens about party programs and the benefits of government interventions, ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in national development.
